Continuing the practice of animating new and unconventional spaces, the Group 16_11 URBAN DISTRICT has located a new space, the deserted quarry in Rakovac, which is used as a place to affirm a new artistic idea named CAVE_CONTEMPORARY_CAVE. By the action in quarry’s galleries and by transferring the results of the action in a gallery space the Group 16_11 has linked the experience of the cave’s space with mental /emotional artist’s space reacting through a personal visual expression. Through processing and implementing ideas, the action began in the cave’s space closing up the circle initiated with prehistoric cave painting and symbolically opening a new one in a cave created by human action. The result of the work is visual and figurative material to be exhibited in a gallery as so called “the reconstruction of the event”. Through this interaction of internal external – external internal the final result of the work of art is demystified and the work got closer to the spectator. Every artist has reacted in an authentic way in the space through its own expression.
